Including reviews for London’s High Noon, the Off West End Musical Already Perfect and my thoughts on recent casting news.
OHMYGOD HEY!
Welcome back to my weekly collation of the various reviews, opinion pieces and theatre news updates I’ve shared across multiple social media platforms.
This week’s theatrical headlines were dominated by the eye-catching confirmation of the previously rumoured Sunday in the Park with George revival, set to arrive in London in 2027 starring Wicked movie alums Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey. The news sent theatre fans and music stans alike into a frenzy (much of which I fear has begun to feel a little like elitist gatekeeping), while an image of the two stars regarding the Georges Seurat artwork that inspired the show reminded me of my own visit to it last Summer.
It has, in any case, been a big week for casting announcements, with many of Broadway’s most popular musicals set to welcome new and returning stars, a topic I also weighed in on in a roundup released just hours before Six: the Musical announced a new set of queens for their Broadway production including Abigail Barlow and Dylan Mulvaney.
Two of my most charming theatre trips this week happened not to be reviewed, as I caught one of the final performances of Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre, as well as the private cover run of Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre. Sometimes, even amidst my mission to share my thoughts about the world’s best theatre, some of the fondest few hours spent sitting in an auditorium are those I keep for myself.

My First Weeks of Theatre in 2026
Once 2026 began, it didn’t take me long to get to the theatre.
Check out the first shows I saw this year, with my stagey fiancé Aeron James – a novel performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, press night performances of High Noon and Woman in Mind, a cover run at Oh, Mary! and an overdue visit to Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre.
Join us for a week in the life of two theatregoers on a mission to see the best shows in the world!
What’s coming up this week?
With a heavy helping of Broadway news in the rear view mirror, it seems certain that London’s theatres will have some exciting announcements to share in the coming days.
Personally, I‘m looking forward to sharing with you reviews and vlogs from the trips I’ve begun taking – I’ve just returned from a weekend seeing Spanish language productions of well known musicals in Madrid (much to be said about this next week), and as I type this, I’m readying for another theatre trip, the reason for which I can’t yet disclose…
Until next week, I hope that everyone is staying safe and that you have a stagey… week! – Mickey-Jo
